Maria Ferrante

Maria Ferrante is an American soprano, who has had an active career as a soloist in opera and oratorio, and as a recitalist.
Biography
Ferrante was born Worcester, Massachusetts. She initally studied guitar at college but then turned to singing. She studied voice with Franco Corelli and his wife for three years, commuting to New York three times a week for lessons, and then later with Sharon Daniels in Boston and Noel Velasco in Providence, Rhode Island. Another mentor was Jeffrey Rink, the conductor of the Newton Symphony and director of Chorus pro Musica, who cast her in their concert performances of Verdi and Puccini operas, including Liu in Turandot (1998), Desdemona in Otello (2000), and the title role in Madama Butterfly (2003). In 2010, she reprised Madama Butterfly in a concert performance of the opera by the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra
