Marcos Manoles

Marcos Manoles (1937-2010) was a Greek Orthodox priest and journalist and enjoyed a large following. Known for very conservative positions and for holiness in his life-style he served as parish priest of the church of St. George at Dionysou, Athens and edited the influential Orthodoxos Typos, in which he expounded his opposition to sects (in particular Jehovah's Witnesses), to the Roman Catholic Church and to ecumenical dialoque. Manoles had previously studied at the University of Athens and served as a deacon at the monasteries of Petrakis (attached to the headquarters of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece) and of St. Panteleimon at Pentele in the hills north of Athens.
