Mapua Tekno Teatro (MTT which later became MT2) is the official theater group of the Mapua Institute of Technology. It is one of the members of the Center for Cultural Development in the institute. MT2 receives support from the institute, and is managed by its member students under the supervision of an adviser. History Mapua Tekno Teatro was founded in August 2000 by a group of Mapua Institute of Technology undergraduates. In the first quarter of 2001 the group was relaunch as an official institutionalized organization under the Center for Cultural Development of Mapua Institute of Technology. In 2006, after showcasing musical plays for so long, the group embarks on producing straight plays and started exploring upgrades to their productions by having advance workshops from professional theater actors. In 2007, MT2 pioneered its first 'play festival' entitled, Dramafest. The festival was supposed to launch in 2006 but certain issues made it unfeasible. The festival consists of three different plays originally written and directed by the members of the group. At the end of the festival, an awards night is held. In the same year, a lot of changes happened to the group. The organization domicile, formerly located beside MIT’s chapel was relocated to the 5th floor of the campus, beside Mapua Judo Club and Mapua Concert Singers. The organization also held amendments in their “constitution” that eventually resulted to an improved union of talents. To this date, the new set of officers and members continue to revolutionize what they consider is their second family. The success of Dramafest 2007 and Dramafest 2008 dared the following years, and the Dramafest 2009 did not falter. Now the members of the group are preparing for the amplification of the imminent Dramafest 2010, an event their loyal audience will look forward to.
