Mammad Abbasbayli

Mammad Aslan oghlu Abbasbayli, born on May 17, 1975, presently serves as the Head of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control in the Republic of Azerbaijan, a position he has held since December 23, 2021.
Life and education
Between 1992 and 1997, he completed his studies at Khazar University, obtaining a degree in International Relations, and at Baku State University, earning a degree in law.
In 1999, he attained a degree in the history of US foreign policy from Purdue University, followed by a master's degree in law from George Washington University in 2000.
He has held full membership in the New York State Bar Association since the year 2000.
Career
He began his professional career in 2000 at the law firm "Salans Hertzfeld & Heilbronn" in New York, US, and remained with the firm until 2003, serving at its Baku office during this period.
Between 2004 and 2008, he held positions as a lawyer, head of the legal department, and general manager at several foreign industrial and investment corporations, such as "Azpetrol International Holdings B.V.", "EUPEC Pipe-Coatings LLC", and "BP".
Between 2009 and 2014, he held the position of CEO at "CRA Group", an asset management company based in Azerbaijan. Concurrently, he held roles as a member, co-chair, and chairman of the boards of directors at mobile and fixed communications and telecommunications firms, foreign gold and non-ferrous metal mining companies, oil and gas enterprises, and major construction firms.
From 2013 to 2014, he served as a member of the board of trustees for the Faculty of Business at ADA University and held the role of co-chair of the Board Committee during that time.
In 2016, Mammad Abbasbayli was elected President of the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation.
From 2019 to 2020, he served as an advisor to the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan. In 2020, he was appointed to the Board of Appeals of the Ministry of Economy and the supervisory board of the Entrepreneurship Development Fund under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan.
By a presidential decree dated July 8, 2020, he was appointed as the Deputy Head of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control within the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan.
On March 30, 2021, he was appointed as a member of the supervisory board of the "Baku Metro" Closed Joint-Stock Company by a presidential decree.
By a presidential decree dated December 23, 2021, Mammad Abbasbayli was appointed to lead the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan.
