Lyn Hall is the mayor of Prince George, British Columbia and a member of the board of BC Transit. Hall began his political career on the school board for School District 57 in Prince George, on which he served for ten years, from 2001 to 2011, including two years as vice-chair and five years as chair. Hall then ran successfully as city councillor for Prince George City Council, serving from 2011 to 2014. He became mayor in December 2014. in an election characterized as a reaction against a mayor and city council seen as dysfunctional and unpopular for what was seen as profligate spending. He was re-elected in October 2018 with 92% of the vote. As mayor he has emphasized partnership with local educational institutions, revitalization of the downtown area, infrastructure, and housing. Hall has presented Prince George as a centre for natural resource extraction in the forestry, mining, and energy sectors and has been honoured for his advocacy for the forest products industry. Hall is married with grown twin daughters.
