Lunchroom scene

Lunchroom scene is a vernacular term that is used to apply to the situation in many high school lunch rooms in which more introverted and quiet students, loners, and new students often experience a moment in which they have no idea where to sit. This is closely tied to the concept of cliques, and creates a great degree of social anxiety for many students. In lunchroom scenes, students who do not desire to participate in socialization during their lunch period often feel very singled out. This is more true in schools in which lunchroom seating is assigned on the first day of classes, or in schools that lack any extra table space.
