Luke Ruddick, born on 3 March 1990, is a professional footballer who is currently playing for Blue Square Premier club, Salisbury City. He is a versatile player who can play virtually anywhere on the pitch, but he is most comfortable at full-back. However, he quite often features in midfield as well. Playing career Brentford Town Luke Ruddick was lucky enough to join his childhood club, Brentford Town, as a trainee. He played in the academy for a couple of years, featuring for both youth and reserve sides. His only first team appearance came in a friendly, when a Brentford XI took on Crawley Town. Luke got himself on the scoresheet, scoring the winner for Brentford. After this, he was let go by the club after being deemed surplus to requirements. Hampton & Richmond After being released by Brentford, he joined Hampton & Richmond for a very short period of time. During his brief spell there he made one substitute appearance, remaining on the bench for most games. Salisbury City After this month spell at Hampton & Richmond, he joined Salisbury on trial after they had experienced financial troubles. He impressed in the reserve team so was signed on a free transfer for the rest of the 2008-09 season. He quickly made it into the first team and established himself very quickly. He was booed by Oxford fans for 90 minutes on New Years Day after breaking Sam Deering's leg in a 50:50 challenge in the game on Boxing Day. However, this didn't phase him as he kept putting in fantastic performances on the pitch for the rest of the season. This earnt him an invite back to pre-season training for the 2009-10 season. However, half-way through July, he was offered a trial by AFC Bournemouth. Unfortunately, this didn't work out for him and he arrived back at Salisbury and was duly offered a contract for the season. However, on the eve of the new season, he broke his nose in a training match and was ruled out for the start of the season. When he recovered from this, he soon regained his place in the first-team and played in many positions, mainly as a left-back or on the left of midfield.
