Luke & the Void <big>Luke & The Void</big> is a short film written and directed by Matt Freeth and produced by Alison Sterling. It was made as part of the UK Film Council's Digital Shorts scheme. The film features actor Peak Practice actor, Simon Shepherd as Luke's father. The film premiered at Encounters Film Festival 2009 as part of the first ever selection for the Live Action Children's Jury. Plot It's 1986, a time of materialism and the first teacher in space. For only-child, Luke (Fergus Prentice) and his family, times are hard. His parents' relationship's falling apart and he's not fitting in at school. When curious girl, Jessie (Maya Champagnie) catches him stealing from class, she is drawn to him and discovers that Luke has a plan. In the back garden, he's building a way out. Music The end credits to the film feature the acoustic version of "Tell Me Computer" by electro band To My Boy. The original score for the film was written by Angus Havers.
