Luis G. Jimenez-Arias (born 1957, Limón, Costa Rica) is a bioethicist and founder of the National Institute of Bioethics in Costa Rica. Education Jimenez-Arias graduated with a Ph.D. in Natural Resources and Sustainable Agriculture from the Universidad de Costa Rica, he holds a degree in bioethics from the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum University, Rome (2007). He received a M.Sc. in Microbiology from the [ (1986)] and a Master of Divinity from , New York (2003). He was a Fulbright Scholar in molecular biology at the University of Florida (1986-1987). Career Jimenez-Arias has provided bioethical consultation for several prestigious institutions including: The Costa Rica National Congress (Asamblea Legilativa). He founded the National Institute of Bioethics in Costa Rica and has published several works on bioethics in Journals and Newspaper. He teaches bioethics, medical ethics and political ethics at graduate level and a former consultant to the United Nations; and member of the Institute of Stem Cell in Costa Rica. He is a former member of the bioethical committee of the Colegio de Medicos de Costa Rica(2007-2012).
