Paul Lowell Haines serves as the 31st President of Taylor University. { He was named Taylor's President in January 2016, following a nationwide search. Haines is a 1975 alumnus of Taylor and served on Taylor's staff from 1975-1987, rising to the position of Vice President for Student Services before leaving Taylor to attend law school. After graduating from the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University, Haines joined the law firm of Baker Daniels in Indianapolis, where he served for 25 years, the last 17 as a partner. Haines' legal work focused on the needs of nonprofit organizations. He also represented a number of colleges and universities throughout the United States. Haines was also a member of Taylor's Board of Trustees from 2003-2016. In addition to his degrees from Indiana University and Taylor University, Haines holds a Master of Arts from Ball State University, and is finishing a Doctor of Education program at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Pa.). Haines also has served on the Board of Trustees for the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), in Washington, DC. During his legal career, he was named to the list Best Lawyers in America/Indianapolis Education Lawyer of the Year. Haines also served as editor of the Indiana Law Journal.
