Louis Jansen van Vuuren

Louis Jansen van Vuuren (born January 30, 1949) is a South African artist, educator and writer, best known for his work with oil paint and pastels on paper.
He lives and works in a chateau in the French countryside and near Yzerfontein in the Western Cape province of South Africa, where he is well known in art circles. He is the curator of the Gallery of the University of Stellenbosch (GUS).
Jansen van Vuuren was born in Middelburg, in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa, where he had his first exhibition at the age of 17. He studied art and design at Stellenbosch University and was a lecturer in design and graphic design at the University of Cape Town.
His awards include winning the Maggie Laubser Scholarship at Stellenbosch University and the Cape Tercentenary Foundation Scholarship.
Jansen van Vuuren has published several books and his poetry and short stories are included in a range of anthologies.
