Lokah

Lokah is an American Kirtan Pop band from Miami formed in the summer of 2007. The band is made up of two lead vocalists, Sri Michael, born Michael Shlofmitz and Uma Nanda Saraswati, born Therezia Altenreuther. Sri Michael, a tenor graduated from NYU in 2001 with a degree in the Arts. In 2001, Sri Michael was featured on backing vocals of Dum Dum Project's, Export Quality. Uma Nanda Saraswati, who was formerly married to counter-culture icon Bhagavan Das , was highlighted in New York Magazine ( January 2004 issue) as one of the top 5 yoga gurus in new york city . Also, She was featured as the main female vocalist on Bhagavan Das' album, Now, which was produced by Mike D. of the Beastie Boys and released in 2002. Lokah has released one album entitled, The Ivy Ceiling. The Ivy Ceiling is a notable work as it is the first album to feature all of the following artists on a single album: Roderick Wolgamott Romero and Anisa Romero of the Seattle underground band Sky Cries Mary, hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, and Oscar-nominated Grammy-winning musician Sting.
