Liviu Bird is an American soccer player and journalist. He currently plays as a goalkeeper for the professional club Kitsap Pumas. Career Youth and College Bird attended and graduated from West Valley High School in Fairbanks, Alaska. He also played for the Alaska Northstars State Select team. He then attended Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, playing on the men’s soccer team from 2008 to 2011. He served as a backup to Zach Johnson in the 2011 season, and was part of the team's 0.88 GAA. Professional In 2011 Bird signed with the North Sound Seawolves of the Premier Development League, where he backed up goalkeeper Claudio Lazar. He signed with the Pumas for the 2012 Premier Development League season. Bird has been a football writer and blogger for over four years. He currently serves as a writer for the Goal blog on the New York Times website.
