Live in Detroit is Thor's first live album, recorded live at Harpo's in Detroit, MI during the Only the Strong tour on Friday, May 24, 1985. The album was reissued for the first time on CD in 2008 with additional bonus tracks. It was once again reissued in 2017 with more bonus content in a Deluxe Edition containing 3 CDs; The standard album, the An-Thor-Logy DVD, and live material from more recent incarnations of the band in Chariots Across The Americas Live. Reception In 2008, ' William Pinfold spoke about the live album fondly in The Roots Of Weller. They stated how "Live in Detroit captures the cartoonish charisma of the singer at his peak in 1985, pounding out anthems such as 'Let The Blood Run Red', 'Rock The City', and 'Anger' to a hugely vocal audience." They followed that up by complimenting the overall sound quality, calling it first class, and that it exhibits the band’s muscles better than in their studio albums. "Thor himself is in excellent voice throughout," they followed with. Ending their review, saying that "This album perfectly captures a genre that would wane in the shadow of thrash, glam, speed, power metal et al, but which was, during its heyday, vibrant and entertaining.
