List of Sailor Moon locations

The List of Sailor Moon locations tries to enumerate the most important locations found in the world of Sailor Moon, an anime/manga metaseries set mostly in a fictionalized version of Tokyo, Japan. Dozens of buildings, parks, and neighborhoods are shown or named throughout the series; this list only contains schools, places of residence, and locations that are integral to the plot.

Schools
Azabu JÅ«ban
Called Crossroads in the English dub, which is a reference to the kanji in its name--jÅ«ban means "number ten," and the kanji for 10 looks like a crossroads(å??). Though fictionalized for the story, the Azabu JÅ«ban schools are located in the real-world Azabu district in Tokyo, which is where creator Naoko Takeuchi lived when she created the series.

Elementary school: Chibiusa and Shingo attend this school. Their classmates include various supporting characters such as Momoko, Kyuusuke and Mika. Usagi may once have attended it as well.

Middle school: For the first four seasons of Sailor Moon, Usagi Tsukino, Ami Mizuno, and Makoto Kino attend this school. Haruna-sensei teaches here, and Naru and Umino are among Usagi's classmates.

High school: In the manga, they attend this school at the beginning of the fourth arc, Dream. Haruka and Michiru also attend this school in the manga later on. Haruka eventually wears the female school uniform. In Sailor Stars, the girls move up to high-school, joined by Minako. The Three Lights also attend this school. The school uniforms are slightly different from those at the middle-school.

===T*A Private Girls School===
A Catholic school where Rei attends middle- and high-school. It is based on a real private school in Japan.

Infinity Academy
Mugen Gakuen was called Mugen School in the English dub. This school is attended by Haruka Tenoh, Michiru Kaioh, and Hotaru Tomoe during the third season. It was founded by Professor Tomoe and is a part of the Death Busters' evil plot. It is destroyed at the end of the story arc in both the anime and manga.

KO University
Mamoru Chiba and Motoki Furuhata study at this school, whose name is a pun on the actual Keio University.

Other places in Tokyo
The Senshi's homes

*Usagi lives with her family in a two-story house. When they are present, Chibiusa and ChibiChibi live there as well. It is stated in the Sailor Moon musicals that the Tsukino house is located in Minato.
*Ami lives in a condominium with her mother.
*Rei lives at the Hikawa Shrine (below) with her grandfather.
*Makoto lives alone in an ordinary apartment.
*Minako lives with her parents in the anime and manga. In the live-action series it is unknown where she lives or whether she has a family.
*Mamoru has his own large apartment.
*Haruka and Michiru initially live in an apartment together. When given charge of Hotaru, they move into a house with Setsuna.
*Setsuna Meioh's living arrangements are unknown until she moves in with Haruka, Michiru, and Hotaru.
*Hotaru first lives in a mansion with her father (third arc, fourth in the anime only), and then in a house with Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna (fifth arc, fourth in the manga only). In the manga, she lives with Haruka and Michiru during the Dream arc as well.

Hikawa Shrine
The , known as Cherry Hill Temple in the English dub. Rei Hino, who practices , lives and works here, serving as a miko or priestess. It is sometimes used as a meeting place by the Guardian Senshi, and Rei is often warned of impending danger by doing fire readings there.

Other residents of the Shrine include Rei's grandfather, who appears in the anime and manga, and , who appears only in the anime, as well as Rei's crows, Deimos and Phobos.

The shrine is based on the real-life Hikawa Shrines, one of which is in Azabu JÅ«ban, where the story is set. The kanji for "ice" in the original name (æ°·å·?ç¥žç¤¾) is replaced with the kanji for "fire" — probably a reflection of Rei's element.

Crown Game Center / Crown Karaoke
In the anime and manga, a video arcade. In Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, a karaoke center. In each, it is a key meeting place for the Guardian Senshi, especially early on. Luna turns one of the game terminals into a special computer; or in the live-action show, creates a special room that only the girls can access, which becomes their headquarters. In all versions it is maintained by the gregarious Motoki Furuhata.

In the Sailor Moon S anime, this is where Usagi and her friends meet Haruka and Michiru for the first time.

Crown Game Center was based on a real video arcade in Tokyo, which has since been replaced by a McDonald's restaurant.

Crown Fruit Parlor
In the later two anime series, the Senshi gradually begin to meet here most often, rather than at the Game Center. It is located just above the Game Center, and maintained by Motoki's younger sister, Unazuki Furuhata. Both businesses are owned by their family.

Galaxy TV
Called Ginga Terebi in Japanese. In the anime, it serves as a headquarters/front for Sailor Galaxia and her Sailor Animamates. It contains offices, as used by the Animamates, as well as a throne room used by Galaxia, which can only be reached by an elevator labelled "out of order". This throne room is a hazy red, characterized by distant black clouds and stars. It has a floor, but no walls or ceiling are discernable.

Jewelry Osa-P
The jewelry store run by Naru's mother. It is the location of the first monster attacks in the manga, anime, and live action. Later in the series, it is revealed that Naru and her mother, as well as her sister in the manga, actually live in an apartment above the store. Jewelry Osa-P got its name because Osa-P (or Osappi) is a way that Naoko Takeuchi sometimes refers to her editor (Fumio Osano).

TV Ashita
TV Ashita is a place that appears a few times, and is the work place of Mikan Shiratori, a famous idol mentioned in the first two seasons. TV Ashita is a fictional company, but it may be based on a real-life television company located in the same area of Tokyo called TV Asahi. The exterior of the actual TV Asahi building looks somewhat like that of TV Ashita (although TV Ashita is only shown very briefly). In real life, TV Asahi is also the company that broadcast Sailor Moon in Japan.

Solar system
The Silver Millennium

The Moon Kingdom was officially called the Silver Millennium, and according to the manga existed millions or even billions of years before the 20th century. The English dub places it around the 10th century. It was ruled by Queen Serenity, the mother of Princess Serenity (who would be reincarnated as Usagi Tsukino). The kingdom was technologically advanced, existing inside a dome which produced an artificial climate. In the anime, all of the Sailor Senshi lived there, while in the manga, the Outer Senshi served elsewhere as guardians of the solar system, and Sailor Saturn's exact location during this time is unknown.

By the 30th century a new Silver Millennium is established on Earth, this time called Crystal Tokyo. It will be ruled by Usagi and Mamoru under the names of Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion, and they will have a daughter. In Crystal Tokyo, the Guardian Senshi are still Neo-Queen Serenity's guardians. However, the location of the Outer Senshi, other than Sailor Pluto, is never mentioned. After their awakening in the manga, the Sailor Quartet also act as guards, but to Small Lady.

The Castles
In the manga, each Senshi has a home castle, given to each of them at birth by Queen Serenity. When they are away the castles are protected by the Guardians of the Crystals, who are given names such as "Guardian Pluto." Each castle may be called upon by its owner as a source of extra power; they can also produce a protective barrier. Those actually pictured are shown in orbit around their respective planets, rather than on the surface, and each is named after a moon of its planet (Charon Castle for Pluto, Io Castle for Jupiter), except for Mercury and Venus. Since they have no moons, their castles appear to be named after space probes (Mariner and Magellan).

Nemesis
A fictional tenth planet of the Solar System. It is described as a planet of "negative energy," having the ability to vanish from visual sight. Due to its negativity, it was claimed to be traceable by X-Rays. The Black Moon Clan, led by Prince Demande, were banished here in the 30th century for refusing to be purified by Neo-Queen Serenity.

Marzipan Castle
The home of Queen Badiane in the Sailor Moon SuperS movie. Its origin is unknown, including whether it was originally the possession of the Queen herself or the fairies she employs, but it has travelled to the atmosphere of Earth, where it hides in the clouds. The castle is destroyed by the end of the movie. The castle was given a different name in the English dub, instead being referred to as the Dream Castle.

Inside Marzipan Castle (usually underneath the floors) are hundreds of thousands of Dream Coffins (Dream Boxes in the English dub)—black polygon-shaped boxes that keep anyone in a deep sleep, thus draining them of their dream energy.

The New Moon
The physical location of the "New Moon" is unclear, but there is some indication that it may be the dark center of the Moon. In the anime, Queen Nehellenia was banished here before her attempt to steal the Golden Crystal, after which she was sealed away inside a mirror.

Beyond the solar system
Dark Kingdom
The exact physical location of the Dark Kingdom's headquarters is unknown. It is shown as a dark, cavernous lair, and is likely extra dimensional. The entrance from Earth is located at the North pole, and is called D Point. The live action series adds a forest area. The access point in the live action version is never specified.

Space-Time Door
The door Sailor Pluto is sworn to protect, sometimes referred to simply as the Door of Time. In the manga it is located in the Underworld, but the anime is unclear as to its location. Anyone who enters the area is usually killed on sight, with a few exceptions (most notably Chibiusa). When Sailor Pluto is not present, it is sometimes placed under the care of . When neither is present it is unknown who watches over it.

Tau Ceti Star System
Tau Ceti (τ Cet / τ Ceti) is a star commonly mentioned by science fiction authors because it is similar to the Sun. In Sailor Moon, the Tau Ceti Star System is the stated home of Master Pharaoh 90. It is probably either extradimensional or too far away to travel, as its method of getting to Earth is being summoned, rather than travelling there.

Kinmoku
A distant planet, home to the Sailor Starlights and Princess Kakyuu. Its name is a pun on kinmokusei, which is the Japanese word for the Orange Osmanthus Olive tree. The suffix sei can also "planet" or "star," which is how it is used here. When Kakyuu first introduces herself, she calls her specific kingdom Tankei, a homonym of another word which also means the Orange Osmanthus olive tree. The musicals state that the Starlights come from, and by extension the location of Kinmoku is, a solar system called the Galaxy System.

By the time of the Sailor Stars arc, this world has been completely destroyed by Galaxia. Little else is known about it.

Other planets
Each member of Shadow Galactica comes from a different planet which has been laid waste by Galaxia. Most of these planets have their own Sailor Senshi, some of whom joined Galaxia, some of whom were killed by her, and some of whom were murdered by those seeking her favor. Planets specifically mentioned in the manga:
*Galaxia's home planet - Unnamed; described by her as "trash."
*ChÅ« - Home of Sailor Iron Mouse and Sailor ChÅ«.
*Mermaid - Home of Sailor Aluminum Siren and Sailor Mermaid.
*Coronis - Home of Sailor Lead Crow and Sailor Coronis, as well as Rei Hino's two crows, Phobos and Deimos
*Mau - Home of Sailor Tin Nyanko and Sailor Mau, as well as Luna and Artemis. (Diana was born on earth.)
*Cocoon - Home of Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon and Sailor Cocoon.
*Lethe and Mnemosyne - Small, poor planets, home of Sailor Lethe and Sailor Mnemosyne.

Zero Star Sagittarius
In the manga, a fictional star which lies within the real star Alpha Sagittarii and is the direct center of the Milky Way. Eternal Sailor Moon travels there, along with Princess Kakyuu and the Sailor Starlights, to rescue the Sailor Crystals of her friends. Sailor Galaxia, having used her own crystal--the Sapphire Crystal--to construct a castle there, awaits her for the final battle.

Galaxy Cauldron
Appearing only in the manga, the Galaxy Cauldron is the holy land of the stars from which all life comes. Everyone in the galaxy is said to have a shining star within them, called a starseed, which returns to the Cauldron once the person has died. It is the job of Guardian Cosmos to send them off to start a new life again--or starseeds can choose to stay in the Cauldron in their true form. Among the starseeds created there are special starseeds called Sailor Crystals, which are only found within Sailor Senshi.

The Cauldron is also the birth place of all of the dark energy in the galaxy. It is explained in the last arc of the manga that both powers of light and darkness were born from the Galaxy Cauldron, and must return to the Galaxy Cauldron.

In the , the Galaxy Cauldron is incorrectly translated to Galaxy Cordon.
