List of planets in Invader Zim

The science-fiction cartoon series Invader Zim features many different planets spread out across its fictional universe. Most of the planets shown in Invader Zim belong to the Irken Empire, or are slated for conquest under the Irken initiative, Operation Impending Doom II. This is a list of planets seen or discussed in the series.

Featured Planets
The storylines of usually feature more than one planet in the plot or as a setting. The following are the more prominently featured planets in alphabetical order.

Blorch
Formerly known as the home of the Slaughtering Rat People, this planet is seen in The Nightmare Begins, the first episode of Invader Zim, and is assigned to Invader Skoodge during the great assigning for Operation Impending Doom II. In Battle of the Planets, it is shown that Skoodge conquered the planet. While the planet is being purged of all remaining life, the Tallest decide to convert it into a parking structure planet. The case for the Invader Zim bonus disc (included with the 'House' box set) features artwork of Skoodge's conquest of this world.

Conventia

The Irken convention-hall planet, where Irkens gathered to watch the formal assigning of Invaders to their planets for Operation Impending Doom II. The planet is fitted with massive soundstages, smoke machines, optical lasers, and nacho/snack-stands. Seen in "The Nightmare Begins" and "The Frycook What Came From All That Space."

The planet Conventia was developed to hold conventions and (presumably) meetings. There are great halls and concert stages across the planet, as well as a variety of gift shops. The planet's most prominent feature is its massive docking ring, which encircles the entire globe and is used for docking spaceships and transporting convention-goers to the surface via its "complimentary" transporters. Zim was assigned to "conquer" Earth on this planet during the events of the first episode.

Earth
In Invader Zim, the Earth is set in an alternate dimension that takes place in the very near future. It is more technologically advanced, yet has an over simplified culture focused on merchandise and secular traditions. In relation to the Irken home world, it is located at the extreme edge of space. It is here that Zim was sent by the Almighty Tallest after he quit his exile to Foodcourtia. The vast majority of the people of Earth are depicted as idiotic and ignorant. Most are unable to realize that Zim is not human despite overwhelming evidence.

Foodcourtia

Foodcourtia is the "food court" planet which served as the place Zim would serve and toil after he was banished for single-handedly ruining Operation Impending Doom I. It is one of many planets conquered by the Irken Galactic Empire, it is likely that foodcourtia is the name given to the planet by the Irkens after its conquering rather than its original title. As hinted by its name, the planet was assigned to serve as an intergalactic food-court where aliens from all over come to feast upon the wide variety of snacks and fast-foods offered there. Foodcourtia is a major part of Zim's past prior to the point in time where the series starts, and is referred to throughout the series and actually revisited in The Frycook What Came from All That Space. Foodcourtia suffers from a phenomenon where the gravity created by the large number of snacking patrons renders the planet inescapable. This is known as The Foodening which lasts 20 years..

Hobo 13

In the episode Hobo 13, Zim is sent to the planet of the same name. It is described by the Almighty Tallest as "The finest military training planet ever." The tallest send Zim there as an attempt to stall his requests for more powerful weaponry. They tell him he will be evaluated here to prove his worth as a soldier. The planet is desert-dry and full of dangers. The character Sgt. Hobo runs the test for soldiers on this planet. Locations such as the Fortress of Pain, the Outhouse of Madness, and the Holding Pen of Pain are mentioned but it is never made clear whether these are located on the planet, as well as even showing them for that matter, aside from the Fortress of Pain.

Irk
The home planet of the Irken Empire. It is a technologically advanced planet of bipedal insectoids known as Irkens, a very aggressive and arrogant race bent on universal conquest and enslavement. The sky of Irk is pink, and most Irken activity on homeworld appears to take place below the surface, as freshly-hatched Irkens spend their first ten years of life in training simulators underground. From what has been shown, there is no vegetation on Irk to speak of, and there seem to be no species of animal native to the planet but the Irkens. It is reasonably sure that there is little to no water on Irk, as there are no signs of water in any shots of the planet(if Irkens are actually hurt by water or not is unknown, as the fact flip-flops several times between episodes). The leaders of the Irkens are the Tallest, who were only elected because of their towering height over the average Irken.

Mars & Mercury
The episode Battle of the Planets shows that Mars was once populated with advanced aliens who worked themselves into extinction converting their planet into a spaceship (the main reason behind this being "because it's cool"). Zim activated the Face on Mars, discovering it to be the planet's control panel put in place by aliens, and set off to roll Mars over Earth's surface to squish the human race. In response, Dib hijacked the Butt on Mercury and used the planet to foil Zim's plan. After a short battle, Zim abandoned Mars, letting it run wildly through the asteroid belt and out loose into the galaxy, where it wiped out a sizable portion of the Irken Armada. The fate of Mercury isn't known.

Planet Jacker Homeworld
Featured in the episode Planet Jackers, the location of the Planet Jacker's homeworld is unknown. Their planet orbits a dying star which needs other planets as fuel. The Planet Jackers capture unclaimed planets, encase the planet and its moons and any orbiting bodies in hollow metal spheres with television screen interiors, and drag them off to throw them into their solar system's dying star. It is known that the Planet Jacker race has a treaty with the Irken Empire and any planets marked by the Irken military for Invasion are to be left where they are in space. Earth is not a part of this treaty and so becomes a target and potential fuel. It is revealed that the star is fueled better by inhabited planets (as one of the Aliens pointed out, "Critters burn good").

Vort
This planet was introduced in the first episode as Home of the universe's most comfortable couch. This planet is assigned to Invader Larb. In the episode Backseat Drivers from Beyond the Stars Vort is further explained to have been a former ally of the Irkens, and provided Irkens with advanced technology such as the Megadoomer Combat Stealth Mech. However, this did not stop the Irkens from invading Vort and converting the planet into the Irken Empire's most advanced research prison. The resistance against the Irken Empire, known as The Resisty, utilised the last remaining Vortian ship and was lead by a Vortian called Lard Nar. The Ship was soon destroyed through shrinky self destruct when Zim set it on a collision course with Earth in the same episode. In an unfinished episode, Zim was briefly stationed here, and unleashed an energy-eating creature that devoured Tallest Miyuki, and later, Tallest Spork. In the episode The Frycook What Came from All That Space, it is revealed that the Vortians exploding systems were installed for a short period into a Vort prison, but many escaped by hiding in garbage tanks, as the system cannot read a bio signature if it's surrounded with enough matter.

Other planets
During many episodes, other planets are shown or mentioned.
*Boodie Nen: A planet of creatures with large nostrils. Currently on the Irken Empire's list of planets to conquer, this world is under assault by Invader Slacks. Seen in Walk for Your Lives.

*Callnowia: A huge computerized planet seemingly devoid of life, Callnowia serves as a delivery center for a galactic TV-shopping network. Callnowia is seen in the season one episode Germs where Zim orders a pair of germ detection goggles, which is then fired from Callnowia to Earth disguised as a meteorite. During the audio commentary for the episode The Frycook What Came from All That Space, Jhonen Vasquez implies that Callnowia was in fact conquered and converted as opposed to constructed.
*Conveyoorus: This planet is composed of giant inter-connected conveyor belts that wrap around the planet. Packages and items are shipped from this planet. It was shown in the episode Megadoomer.
*Devastis: Devastis is a training center for the elite Irken troops. It is here that Control Brains evaluate potential Invader candidates. Both Zim and Tak are seen to have been trained on Devastis in the episode Tak, the Hideous New Girl. Zim accidentally wiped out power to half of the planet while using a maimbot to get a snack out of a vending machine.
*Dirt: This planet appears to be nothing more than a landfill for garbage and scrapped military equipment. Tak is assigned to a janitorial squad here in the episode Tak, the Hideous New Girl when she couldn't complete her Invader training.
*Exploding Head Planets: Red once remarked that Zim should have been sent to "one of those exploding head planets." It is unknown if they exist. It is a reference to Jhonen's famous head-exploding joke.
*Flobee's Mission Planet: A planet inhabited by beings of pure rock. Invader Flobee and his S.I.R. took over this planet, disguising themselves simply by strapping rocks to their foreheads and chests. Zim sees this planet through a telescope in Planet Jackers.
*Judgementia: A planet where Irken courts are held. This was to appear in the canceled episode The Trial.
*Meekrob: A planet named after the dish Mee krob. In the series, Planet Meekrob is the home of the Meekrob species, who are beings of pure energy. Meekrob is mentioned in the episodes Megadoomer and Dib's Wonderful Life of Doom.
*Nhar-Gh'ok: Home to the Nhar-Gh'ok, an alien species that looks exactly like human babies. It is never seen, but its inhabitants are in the episode Plague of Babies.
*Planet of Broken Glass: Purple once remarked that they should have given Zim a mission on a sun or a "planet of broken glass." It is unknown if there really is such a planet.
*Plookesia: Home to the two aliens in '. The Plookesians are born without arms, so they wear mechanical suits with artificial arms attached above their heads.
*Taoola and Charcunga: In Mortos Der Soulstealer, these are the two planets, that when aligned, release Mortos.
*Saturn: During the Battle of the Planets, Saturn is briefly shown, with Mars and Mercury passing through its rings.
*Sirus Minor: In Door to Door, on a hot summer day, Zim remarks that even Sirus Minor didn't orbit such a hot sun.
*Skutch's Mission Planet: Invader Skutch was sent to an unknown planet to conquer it. Zim looks through his telescope to see how much further ahead he is than Skutch, only to find that the entire planet is in ruins and Skutch is laughing maniacally.
*Stink's Mission Planet: Invader Stink was sent to a highly-technological planet, and successfully conquered it. The Massive is seen hovering above it in the episode Megadoomer. In the episode Planet Jackers, Stink is seen relaxing on a hill, as the entire planet burns around him.
*Storage Planet: An entirely mechanical planet, used for storing Irken equipment. Zim was supplied a weapon from here in the episode Megadoomer.
