List of Magic: The Gathering characters: Z

The fictional multiverse of the Wizards of the Coast Magic: The Gathering trading card game, introduced in 1993, has many characters. This alphabetic list includes characters to which the flavor text on the cards is attributed or who are mentioned in it, along with those referred in related games, novels, comics or short stories.
Zagorka
A resourceful old woman in the employ of the Cabal. Her donkey was killed by Cabal guards on her way to Aphetto but was returned to life by Kamahl, much larger and more powerful than before. Helped to organise pit fights and, later, Phage's war machine before the battle against Ixidor. When the battle collapsed Zagorka became the leader of a group of deserters from both sides who took up residence in the remote, abandoned city of Averru. Zagorka was later fused into Karona along with Phage and Akroma, when their two armies arrived to reconquer the deserters. There was no sign of Zagorka when Karona reverted back to Jeska.

Zataz
Ravnican clockwork artificer and closet pyromaniac. (Card: )
Zeki
A Reef Pirate, sailing with an undead crew (Homelands)
Zemoo
A fighter in the Coliseum who got burned by his opponent (Card: )
Zho
A legendary priest and teacher of Jamuraa. He taught his followers to use swords, spears, etc., as shields as opposed to weapons. (Cards: , )
Zirilan of the Claw
A legendary Viashino shaman, able to control dragons. (Card: )
Zlovol
A vedalken Viromancer/Doctor, who unleashed a virus that killed nearly a thousand people (over 600 of them civilians) in a field test of an engineered virus known as the Zlovol Contagion. (Ravnica)
Zok
A goblin scientist of Ravnica's Izzet guild. (Card: )
Zo-Zu the Punisher
A legendary goblin warrior on Kamigawa. (Card: )
Zomaj Hauc
An Izzet magelord that sought to dominate Ravnica and betray by controlling three newborn dragons he had discovered deep in the Utvara district. One dragon (a red one) was crushed by collapsing machinery immediately after hatching, but Hauj successfully gained control of the blue dragon by reading inscriptions carved onto his courier's metal arm. Teysa did the same and took control of the albino dragon. Following a dragon duel above Utvara, Zomaj fell from his mount and died. (Ravnica)
Zorich
A great and worshipped mage of Yavimaya Academy. He believed human is a Yavimaya destroyer and summoned armies of wicked creatures disguising to be Phyrexians to invade human encampments. Finally he tricked his pupil, Ereth, to conjure Thorn Elemental to be his ultimate weapon, but was killed by it. Because no one knew the truth, his name was revered among the elves and human many centuries later.
Zuberi, Golden Feather
A legendary griffin patriarch and ruler of the griffin canyon. (Mirage) (Card: )
Zur the Enchanter
A wizard that lived during the Ice Age. Enemy of Gushta Ebbasdotter, the Kjeldoran Royal Mage, and rival of Gerda Äagesdotter, archmage of the Unseen. Seeks eternal life. He was exiled from Kjeld for his insane attempts to achieve eternal life. He was later to assemble a formidable array of mages and soldiers and attack his former homeland. (Card )
Zyd
A Kamahlite druid in Rift-Era Dominaria. (Cards: , )
Zzzyxas
A wizard who created his own form of Abyss. (Card: ) (Unhinged)
