List of locations in gears of war

In the two (maybe soon to be three) Gears of War games, Delta Squad endures tasks to travelling to many different locations, from a crumbling city to a fast-moving train many miles away, from a hospital under Locust siege to the very heart of the Horde. This fact file summarizes the locations of which the squad ventures to and what they do there. plus. Check List of characters in the Gears of War series or maybe even , 's Gears of War site, for details on the figures and foes featured in the locations. This short guide does not, however, outline strategies of how to collect COG Tags or finish the locations given. Gears of War, Act 1 - Ashes Jacinto Maximum Security Penitentiary Involved Characters: Private Marcus Fenix, Private Domonic Santiago Involved Locust: Drones Chapters: 14 Years After E-Day This is Jacinto’s prison facility. And what is Jacinto? Well, it’s the only safe haven for the COG (Coalition of Ordered Governments) to shelter from the ominous threat of Locust. The Locust Horde is a dangerous alliance of subterranean creatures that surface from their city in the depths of the planet Sera. Jacinto’s reason for being safe is that the rock beneath the plateau is harder than others found on Sera’s crust. It had only been broken once only minutes prior to Marcus and Dom’s descent into the tunnels to clear the out for King Raven helicopters. The granite avoids the Locust from easily tunnelling through it. This place was a holding facility for many felons and criminals in Jacinto. Marcus Fenix was brought there after his trial for dereliction of duty to save his father, Adam Fenix. Dominic Santiago, Marcus’ best war buddy, helped him out. The prison buildings themselves were quite a complicated network of hallways, but during Marcus’ break-out, the Ravens had already been attacking the Locust-infested location, making it easier to traverse. Embry Square Involved Characters: Colonel Hoffman, Lieutenant Anya Stroud, Lieutenant Minh Young Kim, Private Anthony Carmine, Private Marcus Fenix, Private Domonic Santiago Involved Locust: Drones Chapters: Trial by Fire, Fish in a Barrel, Fork in the Road This is a place near the city of Ephyra, which has been ravaged by Locust. On a King Raven, Lieutenant Minh Young Kim invites Marcus to Delta Squad, with Dom, Anthony Carmine and himself. They glide on the helicopter before meeting Gears Commanding Officer Colonel Hoffman in the streets. There, he gives Delta the important mission of the Lightmass Bombing, where they have to plant a resonator device and map the underground Locust tunnels for the detonation of a powerful, Imulsion-energized explosive. Imulsion is a rich and dangerous resource found in the tunnels, by the way. The city is the capitol of the COG, and is a place where majestic buildings are positioned. Structures like the House of Sovereigns, where Marcus Fenix's trial was held. The Tomb of Unknowns, some klicks away, is also located somewhere in the city. House of Sovereigns Involved Characters: Lieutenant Minh Young Kim, Private Anthony Carmine, Private Dominic Santiago, Private Marcus Fenix, General RAAM Involved Locust: Wretches, Grenadiers, Seeders, Drones, Snipers Chapters: Knock Knock, Hammer, Wrath In order to retrieve Alpha Squad, Delta must proceed through this massive building. It is a house of judgement, where Marcus took his trial and was sent to the Penitentiary. This is where Grenadiers make their real entrance to the fight; they wield Gnasher Shotguns which are deadly at close-range. The breach into the House starts as Delta Squad enters the outer area. Drones, a Gunner and a Grenadier all make their appearances here. After the first encounter, Delta faces Seeders, immense Locust that can only be killed by a Hammer of Dawn. They spew out Nemacyst which interfere with radio communication and fight as organic, living floating bombs (kind of like Tickers, which are living landmines, they both explode and are suicidal). This is where the team saves Augustus “Cole Train” Cole, a former Thrashball player and now a member of Alpha Squad. The team makes a deathly reunion with Damon Baird, another Alpha Squad soldier, which includes the deaths of four; Kim, two helicopter pilots, and a panicking soldier who dies at the ripping hands of a Berserker. Tomb of the Unknowns Involved Characters: Private Marcus Fenix, Private Dominic Santiago, Private Damon Baird, Private Augustus Cole Involved Locust: Berserker Chapters: China Shop The immediate Locust ambush outside had almost been the death of Delta Squad, but now they have retreated to the Tomb of the Unknowns. They are safe for the moment, but with a raving Berserker Locust rampaging inside the tight tomb, they are in a no better position than before. This indoor location is quite tight, with only a long hallway to retain space. Delta must lure the Berserker outside, where they can use the Hammer of Dawn to fry her. The doors leading outside are only breakable by the Berserker’s unmatched strength and resilience. After the fight, Marcus is promoted to Sergeant and is titled leader of Delta Squad in order to replace Lieutenant Kim. Baird and Cole fill up the team after the deaths of both Kim and Carmine, who now lies with a Sniper bullet in his head. Gears of War, Act 2 - Nightfall Ephyra Streets Involved Characters: Sergeant Marcus Fenix, Private Damon Baird, Private Augustus Cole, Private Domonic Santiago Involved Locust: Drones, Grenadiers, Wretches, Boomers Chapters: Tick Tick Boom, Grist The streets of Ephyra are approaching the night, and now the cobbled remains of a once populated city are crawling with Wretches. Two Boomers greet Delta Squad as they arrive, and these creatures wield far more destructive weapons; Boomshots. These tools will blast anything they come in contact with, so any good-willed soldier would duck under complete cover when a Boomer shouts “Boom!” to avoid the rocket. The Corpser Marcus saw earlier whilst escaping his prison block now reveals itself every once in a while, but it shall not meet its demise until near the end of Act 3 - Belly of the Beast. Their objective is to reach the Stranded camp. The Stranded are stranded humans who didn’t make it to Jacinto and now live in desolate places like the Old Ephyra. Once Delta reaches the Stranded camp, Dom goes to get a vehicle that would help in their mission to plant the resonator. He speaks to his friend Franklin, who apparently owes him. Old Ephyra Involved Characters: Franklin, Chaps, Sergeant Marcus Fenix, Private Dominic Santiago, Private Damon Baird, Private Augustus Cole Involved Locust: Wretches, Drones, Greandiers, Snipers, Kryll Chapters: Outpost, Lethal Dusk, Dark Labyrinth, Power Keg The sun has fully set and now the terrible Kryll have been unleashed; they are incredibly engulfing Locust, devouring anything that strides into darkness in seconds. Even other Locust would be eaten if they stray too far from a light source. Delta Squad have spoken with Dom's friend; Franklin, and now his vehicle, a so-called "Junker" is parked in Chaps' Gas Station. Cole and Baird stay put, whilst the other two venture to get the Junker, which is an APC stripped of most of its armor and fitted with a Kryll-burning UV Light instead of a Machine-gun turret. Kryll are ultrasensitive to light, and even a simple street lamp would be too much for them to bear. The old and dark buildings can carry many unpleasant surprises, and the only way to traverse dark terrain is to shoot the propane tanks along the way for more light. Chaps' station is found at the end, and both him and the duo who have come must defend against incoming Locust whilst the Junker is fueled up. After it is ready for stable driving, all three board it and drive off to the Standed's base again, where even more Locust are putting it even siege. Viaducts Involved Characters: Chaps, Sergeant Marcus Fenix, Private Domonic Santiago Involved Locust: Kryll Chapters: Burnt Rubber The Viaducts of Old Ephyra can be VERY confusing location, they possess a heavy amount of twists and turns and cracked streets. Kryll burst out of the buildings and descend from the skies above to destroy the Junker, with only a UV Turret to protect it. Marcus drives the vehicle to the base, but with an annoying bunch of Locust bats to cram their way. It takes a lot of skill to properly control the Junker, and it can be surprisingly vulnerable to Kryll attacks. The trio rush through the city, fending off their enemies as they go, the Stranded need them in order to survive the onslaught. Once they arrive, Chaps joins the Stranded and Marcus and Dom are reunited with Cole and Baird. They team up to defend the base from Boomers, Snipers and Drones from all sides, plus several gunners from the buildings. Alamo Involved Characters: Sergeant Marcus Fenix, Private Domonic Santiago, Private Damon Baird, Priivate Augustus Cole Involved Locust: Drones, Boomers, Greandiers, Snipers Chapters: Last Stand Locust come from all directions here. This other section of the Stranded's camp is split into two sections by a ridge on the top; Delta Squad are on that ridge and attempt to protect the base from dozens of Locust troops. This is gratifying task, Delta is crammed in and now, the night prevents them fromn exposing themselves to the Kryll. Once the base is safe, the members of Delta hop onto the Junker and speed off to Lethia Imulsion Facility ten klicks away.
