List of British MPs calling on Speaker Michael Martin to resign

The following article lists British MPs who have called for the Speaker of the House of Commons Michael Martin to resign following the controversy over his handling of the MPs expenses controversy. Such criticism of a sitting Speaker is unprecedented in modern times and as there is no established method of removing a Speaker there is the possibility of a constitutional crisis if Michael Martin does not resign. By convention party leaders do not comment on the Speaker because it is seen as interfering with the independence of Parliament as well as a breach of convention. If ousted Martin would be the first Speaker forced out in over 300 years.
