Lexus India

Lexus India is a division of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Lexus.
Background
Lexus is a Japanese luxury car maker that began operations in 1989 as a way for Toyota to expand its presence in the American luxury car market. The first car that came out of this venture was the Lexus LS which is a sedan. Eventually Lexus began to expand operations to markets and thus expanded its offerings which now includes hybrid and large SUV models.
In 2012, Toyota committed to launching the Lexus brand in India. Lexus marked its India entry in March 2017 with the introduction of a hybrid-focused line-up of vehicles featuring sedan ES300h, crossover RX450h and SUV LX450d. In India Lexus will operate as a independent brand separate of it's parent, Toyota.
It offers, to the Indian market, three crossovers and two sedans with some sporty models expected to come in a later date. The sedan models are the LS and ES models. The former is a mid-level sedan meant to take on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6 and the BMW 5 Series. The LS on the other hand is a full-size sedan meant to take on cars like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, Jaguar XJ L and the Audi A8L. The crossover range comprises the entry-level NX as well as the more expensive RX crossover. These are the new age Lexus models and slot in below their equivalent SUV models.
The biggest car that Lexus sells in India is the NX SUV which is basically an extra-luxury version of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 which incidentally is also the largest car that Toyota sells in India. It is the only diesel powered model sold by the Japanese automaker in the Indian car market.
