Laxmi Kanto Babur Bari

Laxmi Kanto Babur Bari is a historic building at Kalma, Lohojong, Munshiganj, Bangladesh. It was established as a Jaminder house and later converted to a school named L K High School in 1901.
Background
The primogenitor's name of this the family was Nidhiram Dewan. He was a Royal Physician during Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah's period. His descendant Laxmi Kanto accomplished Jamidari by helping the East India Company. Laxmi Kanto's two sons Rajkumar and Tarakanto established the Laxmi Kanto Babur Bari.
In 1901, Laxmi Kanto's sons established Kalma Lakshmikanta High English School in his name. During the establishment of the school Babu Gyanendra Das Chowdhury played an important role.
Description
The structure is a rectangular type during the British east India colonial period. It is almost 300-year-old structure during early 20th century.
The structure is 7 m Width 25 m Length rectangle externally with approximately 175 square meter which has a rectangular plan. The structure has seven chambers, internally divided by the external doors. In the entrance it has large lawns in west and eastern side with raises boundary made of concrete. It has three steps of stairs having 2m wide main entrance along with six other openings and two large openings on west and east side. Both the Northern and Southern façade has arched openings flanked by two blind arches. There are two stairs on the north west and north east sides. The west and east portion of the structure is 1m larger than the rectangular space. Stylistically this kind is known as British colonial architecture during Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah's period, followed by neoclassical architecture characterized by geometric forms with Corinthian style columns mostly found in classical Greek and Roman details.
The structure is of two storied buttressed by 0.4m thick walls of with Corinthian styled columns. The exterior façade is sculptured by terracotta works and exposed bricks on the arches. The level of parapet wall has an inscription-
“AGREE TO DIFFER GYANENDRO KAMINI BHUPATI DAKHINA VARIETY”
All entrance in the lower story has equal measured openings while the upper stories openings are slightly raised up to 1m. There is a crown shaped façade on the roof top sculptured with terracotta work pointed at the top. The roof parapet is 0.3m raised designed by terracotta.
