The Latin American Quality Institute (LAQI) is a nonprofit organization. It was founded in Panama City in 2001. The organization supports competition among enterprises and organizations in Latin America. Events LAQI holds an event called the Quality Summit every year in different Latin American countries. It assembles leaders from the corporative setting in which is developed, with the purpose of sharing information and knowledge, besides recognizing the work done in quality management. It includes high-level conferences about different topics and concludes by granting the Enterprise of the Year Award. The Latin American Quality Awards is the organization's central event held every year, from the second Thursday of November during World Quality Day celebrations, a date created by United Nations in 1992.
