Larry "The Wizard" Sievers is an Outsider musician and folk artist native to Iowa City, Iowa; born October 7, 1945. He plays heavy metal keyboards, and owns 800 heavy metal albums. His music is played simultaneously on two keyboards in both his recordings and live performances, and is entirely instrumental except for some spoken word song introductions. His music draws inspiration from fantasy fiction, heavy metal and prog rock. Of these it is most heavily guided by fantasy themes, with the album and song titles all related to that genre. His spoken song introductions sound like narrative introductions to fantasy literature and cinema. He also draws and paints fantasy art for his album covers, and was inspired by heavy metal album covers by heavy metal acts like Dio and Cathedral. Larry is a proficient songwriter and keyboard player, as well as being very prolific. His music has a childlike innocence that comes from his adoration of dragons, pirates and other fantasy subjects. His perseveration on these subjects, as well as his gentle childlike nature, give his music a quality that appeals to fans of outsider music. He offers his entire musical catalog for free online along with the following message: My music keeps me from feeling lonely. It's my other world I live in...thanks for listening. No stranger to the local music scene, he has acted as a sound assistance at many of the local clubs where he has also performed. He can also often be seen wandering downtown Iowa City in the pedestrian mall, library, bookstores and other places where he introduces himself in his shy manner; even while often flamboyantly dressed like he is going to a Black Sabbath show at a renaissance festival.
