The lake trio is a trio of three legendary Pokémon, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. The members of the lake trio were created by Arceus shortly after the creation of the universe. Uxie created knowledge, Mesprit created emotion, and Azelf created willpower. Together these three Pokémon created spirit, and humanity was born.
Looking into Uxie's eyes erases the memory, touching Mesprit removes the emotions, and harming Azelf causes immobility. These could alternatively be described as the loss of knowledge, emotion, and willpower, respectively, which are the three spiritual aspects the lake trio represents.
