Krista Whitley-Castellarin is a former pet store chain owner and the current owner of the Las Vegas firm EGO: Entertainment and Growth Opportunities. Career In 2007 Whitley-Castellarin founded Fabulous Furballs in Sherwood Park, Alberta using her retirement savings, after relocating from Las Vegas to Edmonton. She got the idea when trying to find a cashmere sweater for her pet dog, who had been moved from a hotter climate into the colder winters of Alberta. Fabulous Furballs sold a pet spa product line through third-party vendors and its franchise of pet stores. It also founded a pet grooming school called The Fur Institute. Fabulous Furballs became the ninth fastest growing company in Canada. By 2010 the company had $1.1 million in revenues. During a 2011 appearance on the reality television show Dragons' Den she was offered $200,000 in exchange for a 10% future option on the company by investor Bruce Croxon. In 2011 Slice TV aired a pilot for a show produced by Whitely-Castellarin eponymously entitled ‘’Fabulous Furballs’’ that focused on The Fur Institute. A year following the appearance on Dragons' Den she sold the company. Before the sale, each of the four franchises disassociated themselves from the parent company, making them independent. One of the franchises filed a law suit against Whitely-Castellerin, in addition to a former marketing firm. Whitley-Castellarin was then the founder and CEO of Mean Girls, a company located in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, before becoming the founder and CEO of EGO: Entertainment and Growth Opportunities in late 2013. The company has helped to produce television pilots and worked with musical artists in acquiring recording contracts. In February 2014 she was named by ‘’Vegas Inc.’’ as one of the 2014 “women to watch” because of her work with EGO. Personal life Whitley-Castellarin was born in Yakima, Washington. She is married to her husband Dwayne, with whom she has two daughters.<ref name=Totten />
