Founded in 1991, Kognitio is headquartered in Bracknell, United Kingdom and has offices in Chicago, Illinois and New York City. Kognitio develops WX2. Kognitio merged with Whitecross Systems in August 2005.

WX2 is a full ANSI-SQL standards based analytical RDBMS that serves as a data warehouse appliance for data analytics. No proprietary hardware is involved and the solution provides "comparable performance to the likes of Teradata and Netezza".
Kognitio WX2 was awarded SearchDataManagement Product of the Year 2008 in the BI and analytics category.
