The KIS Sivar was a fictional Kilrathi warship in the Wing Commander game series. Its first appearance was in Wing Commander: Secret Missions 1 (1990).
Historical Background The KIS Sivar was the class leader of the newest version of the Sivar-class dreadnoughts in 2654. In fact, it was the only known ship of its class. The vessel was deployed on the front lines of the Kilrathi War by the Kilrathi Empire in 2654, a short time after the Terran Confederation conquered the Vega Sector. Shortly after deployment, the vessel was chosen to house the Kilrathi Empire's new Graviton Weapon, a device capable of annihilating entire colonies by increasing the gravitational force of any planet by 137 times. The weapon was developed at a planet called Warhammer 12, which was the Kilrathi's main research planet in the Vega Sector. When the weapon was finished, the Sivar used it to destroy the planet to hide the evidence of the Empire's work, resulting in the first successful test of the device. Later, Kalralahr Gilkarg nar Kiranka of the Kilrathi Fleet took command of the Sivar and led a massive fleet to attack Goddard, a human colony in the Epsilon Sector. The attack was a huge victory for the Empire, for all 250,000 colonists living on Goddard were killed within minutes, and no other life forms were spared. Entire cities were left in ruins. Following this victory, the Sivar retreated to Kilrathi space to avoid intervention from the Terran Confederation.
Unfortunately for the Kilrathi, the atrocity on Goddard only encouraged the humans to send in the TCS Tiger's Claw, the carrier that conquered the Vega Sector, to penetrate Kilrathi space in order to track down the Sivar Fleet. This covert operation was codenamed Operation: Thor's Hammer, and in it, the Tiger's Claw and her allies assaulted the Sivars escorts wherever they turned up. Over the course of several weeks, Christopher Blair and his fellow pilots destroyed several cruisers, destroyers, and convoys supporting the Sivar, and they even destroyed a space depot. While in the Jotunheim System, Blair and the Tiger's Claw were almost lured into a trap by the TCS Gwenhyvar, a captured Exeter-class Destroyer that the Kilrathi were using to trap unsuspecting vessels. Blair discovered this trap and destroyed the vessel. Blair and his friend, James Taggart, spotted the Sivar in the Bifrost System, but it was too powerful for them to engage. Despite this, the Tiger's Claw continued its pursuit.
Finally, the KIS Sivar was cornered in the Vigird System, and Blair and Joseph "Knight" Khumalo were sent out to finish it off. It was low on supplies and escorts, so it was now or never. The two pilots succeeded in destroying the vessel, as well as the Graviton Weapon that destroyed Goddard. The TCS Tiger's Claw and its pilots then fled to human space before the enemy could retaliate. Note references
Aftermath The consequences for the loss of the KIS Sivar were severe for the Kilrathi. The technical data on the Sivar-class Dreadnought and the Graviton Weapon were lost forever, thereby denying the Kilrathi another chance to wipe out humanity quickly. Kalralahr Gilkarg nar Kiranka was executed by his father, the Emperor, as punishment for his failure to destroy humanity. His surviving son, Thrakhath nar Kiranka, became the next heir of Kilrah afterwards, continuing the brutality of leadership under the nar Kiranka clan.
