Kevin Wacasey

Kevin Wacasey (weɪkeɪsi), M.D. is an American physician who coined the term healthcareonomics, and created The Wacasey Equation.
Biography
Wacasey was born October 12, 1968, in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of Sanders L. Wacasey and Ruth (née Moser) Wacasey.
He graduated from Haltom High School in 1986, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1990.
He attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he received a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1994.

He completed a three year residency in Emergency Medicine at Orlando Regional Medical Center in 1997, and became certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine in 1999.
Medical career
After finishing his residency training, Wacasey returned to North Texas where he practiced emergency medicine for 17 years. In October 2013 he went into private practice and opened a cash-only urgent and primary care clinic that does not accept or file any type of health insurance.
Organizations
In 1995, Wacasey became a Founding Member of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. From 1999-2000, he served as the President of the Texas Academy of Emergency Medicine, and he has published several articles in the Academy's newsletter.
Research
In 1995, Wacasey was a co-author of a study that helped to establish the utility of blood myoglobin levels in revealing early heart attack. For almost twenty years, myoglobin levels have been used in Emergency Rooms around the world to monitor patients who present with chest pain or other heart attack symptoms.

In October 2013, Wacasey was featured on a local news story about providing affordable health care at his clinic.
