The platform is a collection of closed-source components; media player, encoding server, dashboard, hosting & CDN, integration suite, white-label templates, desktop upload application. History Kensei Media was founded by David Nicoll and Leo Fowler in 2007, and is currently based in Leeds, United Kingdom. Kensei Media is a member of the Northern Technology Institute in Old Broadcasting House - a co-working incubator for technology start-ups. The Kensei Media Platform was originally created in 2006 to support several Live Nation web applications such as the Download Festival, O2 Wireless Festival and Global Gathering web sites. As a result, Download Festival has won several awards, including the "BT Digital Music - Best Music Community" award for three years running. Version 2 of the platform was released in December 2008, in tandem with technology partner Jobsite re-launching their improved ProductionBase web site. The platform is also used by O2, Northcliffe Media, Leeds University and several digital media agencies.
