Kathleen Albertson

Kathleen Ann Albertson (born February 7, 1951), best known as Dr. Albertson, is an American Acupuncturist, Holistic Medicine Specialist, and Author. Dr. Albertson's book titled Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine for Women's Health: Bridging the Gap Between Western and Eastern Medicine. was published in 2009.
Education and Career
She spent 15+ years in corporate marketing and administration and changed careers in 1992 to enter SAMRA University of Oriental Medicine, at that time, the largest and oldest teaching institute in the US. She then went to China for two months to explore TCM Traditional Chinese medicine at its roots. Her first years of practice were in W. Covina and Upland, CA; she continues to practice in Irvine, CA.
She completed her PhD in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health in 2006 allowing her to better integrate both western and eastern nutritional counseling into her practice. She sees men, women and children in her practice, for a wide variety of disorders. She specializes in infertility and speaks at support groups and various organizations on a regular basis. She is a web lecturer for Lotus Institute on Integrated Medicine.

Albertson has authored one book titles Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine for Women's Health: Bridging the Gap Between Western and Eastern Medicine.
Personal life
She is has been married for 30 years to Anthony V. Albertson, and they reside in Dana Point, CA, with their dog Centavo. She has one step daughter, Tami. She suffered a severe water skiing accident in 1974 injuring the disks in her low back. She is an advocate of physical exercise for better health, and is an avid swimmer.
Alternative medicine
Dr. Albertson supports alternative medicine and practices acupuncture and holistic medicine. Dr. Albertson believes that integrating Western and Eastern medical care improves patient results. She fosters a firm belief in educating patients to take better care of themselves which includes attention to diet, nutrition and lifestyle. TCM traditional Chinese medicine which includes acupuncture and Chinese herbs is undervalued and underutilized in primary care and in disease prevention.
Education and Certifications
Dr. Albertson became licensed in the state of California for Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in 1995. She earned her Masters of Science from SAMRA University of Oriental Medicine in California in 1995. She is Nationally Board-Certified (NCCAOM) Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (1995) and holds a Ph.D. in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health (2006). Her dissertation “The Use of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Treating Female
Infertility” was published under ISBN: 1-58112 -351-5.
She holds a Bachelor of Science: Business and Marketing, Colorado State University, Colorado (1973) and a Masters of Arts: Counseling and Personnel; Western Michigan University, Michigan (1975). She also hold various certifications including Certified NAET Practitioner, Certified Acupuncture Orthopedics (1998), Certified Massage Therapist; Santa Monica School of Massage (1993).
