Kari Ferrell (b. February 26, 1987 ), also known as the Hipster Grifter, is an alleged con-artist from Salt Lake City, Utah who has become an internet celebrity. After a series of financial scams in Utah which included bad checks and forgery, in early 2009 she topped the Salt Lake City Police Department's most wanted list. While a fugitive she gained notoriety in Brooklyn, New York for befriending many people in the hipster community, sometimes allegedly stealing from them, and pretending she has cancer.
Ferrell posted a video apologizing for her actions on May 1, 2009. Within days she was arrested by police in Philadelphia and extradited to Utah. In July, 2009 she was formally charged with identity fraud and bad checks.
