Karen Ristevski

Karen Ristevski (died between June 2016 and February 2017) is an Australian woman whose disappearance in June 2016 attracted both national and international attention. Ristevski, a businesswoman, disappeared in Avondale Heights, Victoria. Her body was discovered in February 2017 in bushland, in the outer northwest of Melbourne.
Background
Ristevski was a fashion designer who along with her husband, Borce Ristevski, had owned several businesses across southern Victoria, in the Melbourne metro area. Media reports suggests the family endured financial hardship, and a caveat had been placed on their family home due to unpaid rent at a business the couple owned. Several businesses owned by the family had collapsed, and they owed $1,400,000 collectively from two failed companies. Ristevski went missing in the morning hours, shortly before midday. Her husband did not leave the house until 11am that day, when he intended to get petrol. After missing the turn for the petrol station, he decided to continue to his business. He missed that turn as well, and headed home. Police had pinged Ristevski's phone on the Calder Highway, 40km west of Melbourne approximately four hours after her disappearance. Her husband's phone was also tracked on this highway, which is located approximately 20km from their home, despite his statement to police that he had not left the home the day his wife went missing.
Furthermore, reports emerged that a tracking device had been lifted from Borce Ristevski's car after her disappearance. The pings traced from her mobile phone led to the police search being diverted to Gisborne, Victoria, not far from where her body was discovered in February 2017. Her belongings were discovered near a property belonging to the brother of her husband.<ref name="HeraldSun" />
