Kappa Alpha Kappa is a local service sorority located at the University of Maine at Machias KAK was founded in 1928. The purpose of this chapter shall be to assemble the women of the University of Maine at Machias in the spirit of service to humanity. It shall serve to develop friendship among all women of all races and creeds. Here at UMM we are an active part of campus life and continue to serve the community through volunteer work. We are a local sorority, and are the only KAK in the world.KAK is immersed in service work and helps the community by putting on a blood drive every fall, volunteering in town, and raising money for different organizations, such as; UNICEF, Maine AIDS Walk, The Troops in Iraq, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, Malmute Rescue, and many more.
