The Kairos Society is a not for profit providing a networking platform for college-age entrepreneurs. Founded by Ankur Jain in 2008, the society has a membership of 1500 students from colleges accross the United States and is currently expanding to include the leaders of tomorrow in China and India. The Kairos Society ‘unites the brightest young minds to fuel the innovation of tomorrow.’ The entrepreneurial members of the society seek to ‘do well while doing good’, proposing a creative response to the economic downturn of 2009. By uniting student entrepreneurs with world leaders such as William Gates Sr, Bill Clinton, Scott Mednick (Founder of Legendary Pictures), Admiral Bill Owens and Naveen Jain (Founder of InfoSpace and Intelius), the society provides the tools the student entrepreneurs need to excel. Member Schools Member schools in the United States include, Babson, ClaremontMcKenna, Pomona, Scripps, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer, Columbia, Duke, Emory, Furman, Harvard, MIT, Northeastern, Stanford, TUFTS, University of Pennsylvania, University of Michigan, Penn State University, Princeton, NYU, and USC. Kairos is also expanding into India and China, with presence at Xi’an Jiotong University, Peking University, Tshingua University, Remnin Univerity of China, Beijing Normal University, China Agricultural University, Fudan Univerity and Wuhan University. Chapters at these 26 member schools provide localized events for its members including monthly webinars with mentors, online peer-to-peer networking platforms and local social events for members to exchange ideas. Summit Annually in April the Kairos Society hosts a summit, bringing together 100 VIP guests - leading entrepreneurs who act as mentors to the students - and 500 of the premier members of the Kairos Society by invitation. The Kairos Society hosted its inaugural summit in April 2009 aboard the USS Intrepid.The event boasted keynotes by Bill Clinton and Bill Gates, Sr., as well as addresses by Joe Plumeri, Ellen Kullman (CEO of DuPoint) and Phil Condit (CEO of Boeing), Deborah Wince-Smith (President Council on Competitiveness), Scott Mednick, Admiral Bill Owens, Bill White and Naveen Jain. The 100 premier student run companies were invited to table at the summit and entrepreneurial leaders in 4 industries were honored. Kayvon Beykpour and Pablo Jablonski from Terribly Clever Design won the award for technology; Brand Yourself.com was awarded the prize for marketing; Elizabeth Brook from Circle of women won the award for social entrepreneurship and Shakeel Avadhany from Levant Power won the award for innovation in alternative energy.
