Josh Methven (born Joshua Luke Methven; September 1, 1995) is a Canadian filmmaker and visual effects artist. Best known for his work on Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, Transformers: The Last Knight, and The Divergent Series: Allegiant. He is employed at Industrial Light and Magi<nowiki/>c (ILM). He is also the founder of an unlicensed, non profit, no trademark film producing company called Langleyfilm; named after the township of Langley he grew up in just outside Vancouver BC in the Greater Vancouver area. His pathway to a Hollywood career of fame began in 2009 when he finished the first of a series of Star Wars inspired short films that arose from Langleyfilm whilst attending Walnut Grove Secondary School in his second year. The video production electives he had chosen at WGSS directed the learning curve to that of any creative film maker which eventually led him to Lost Boys School of VFX after graduating WGSS high school in 2013. There he was one of five students to enroll in Canada's first full time FX TD program that focused full time in a software called Houdini FX (a SideFX software product). This was the first class to go through the FX TD program at Lost Boys. The program lasted 8 months, and through intensive training Josh was able to make his way to the work force. Since graduating with an FX TD (effects technical director) diploma, Josh has worked at Vancouver film and television studios such as Nerd Corps Entertainment, Embassy VFX, Method Studios, Goldtooth Creative, and finally Industrial Light and Magic.
