Joseph Reylan B. Viray

Joseph Reylan Viray was born in December 19, 1977 in Masantol Pampanga, Philippines. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy minor in Sociology at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He has had his graduate studies at the Divine Word Mission Seminary, Quezon City Philippines. He has also a Bachelor of Laws degree from the PUP College of Law, Manila.

Work Experiences

He teaches philosophy and literature at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Mr. Viray is also active in the promotion of culture and the arts. He is currently the adviser of Guhit Sudlungan , a visual arts group of PUP-UCCA. He is the Chairman of Lakan Dayang Cultural Association Inc, a national organization of cultural workers, artists and academicians devoted to the propagation of culture and the arts through exhibits, concerts, theatrical presentations and other media. The organization has a long line of accomplishments in the field of arts. The Association's staging of Sorry Wrong Number and Driving Miss Daisy in July 2007 was noteworthy. In September 2007, the Association was able to stage a Filipino play entitled Inulilang Tahanan, an adaptation of Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero's Forsaken House.

Publications

He has published monographs e.g. "Just Gaming: Lyotard's Refusal Against the Classical Concept of Justice" (2004) and articles e.g. "Rereading Postmodern Condition: A Report on Knowledge" (2004). He has also published poems among others, "Agony of the Buddhist Monk" and "Church Rats/ Dagang Simbahan" (Makata International Journal of Poetry) . Viray also writes for electronic Kabalen, a web-exclusive Kapampangan journal of ideas. Viray has written an article entitled Facing Medical Razors which was published in various online journals.
