Joseph Priestley District of the Unitarian Universalist Association

The Joseph Priestley District is a district of the Unitarian Universalist Association. It comprises Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey, Delaware, Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. It is named after Joseph Priestley, a scientist credited both with the discovery of oxygen and with helping to found the oldest Unitarian congregation in America, the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia, in 1796; it currently presides over 67 congregations.
It is divided into 4 clusters:
* Baltimore/Washington/Northern Virginia
* Philadelphia/Wilmington
* UUs of the Delmarva Peninsula
* UUs of South Central Pennsylvania
The district is one of four districts comprising the Central East Regional Group, alongside the Ohio-Meadville District, St. Lawrence District and the Metro New York District.
