Joseph L. Marino Sr.

Joseph Marino Sr. (April 6, 1915 - September 1, 2000) was an attorney, an educator, and an aviator.
Professional Life
Law career
Marino graduated from St. John's Law School in 1943 and proceeded to alter the face of bar review, establishing Marino Bar Tutors in 1946. It was common practice for a student to find an accomplished attorney in his state and take direct tutelage from him prior to taking the bar exam. The fees lawyers charged for this would vary yet were often quite high. For his company, Marino taught individuals to become bar tutors. These tutors would have varying levels of expertise and charge commensurately. Clients were attracted to this not only because of the comparatively modest prices but because there were a bevy of tutors to choose from with certifications to teach for different state bar exams. The company was successful enough that in 1977, Marino was bought out by Josephson Bar Review Course.
Time in the Army
In 1942, Marino was stationed in Randolph Field, Texas, and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during 1943. He was an instructor in the Air Force's Instrument Trainer Instructions School where he taught Aerodynamics, Theory of Flight, among others. Marino was given an honorable discharge on August 16, 1943.
Run for Congress
In 1964, Marino ran for New Yorks' 4th district. Republican John W. Wydler would inevitably win the election.
Personal
Family
