Joseph A. Davis (Roanoke, Virginia), he is an American born public service psychologist, university educator and professor who specializes in psychology; particularly, clinical-forensic, psychology-law and trauma psychology. Educated at Radford University, University of Virginia and U.Va's Institute of Law, Psychiatry & Public Policy and the California School of Professional Psychology, he earned B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and also holds an honorary doctorate of laws degree; the LL.D. He completed clinical psychology internships at St. Alban's Hospital, Radford, Virginia, Western State Psychiatric Hospital in Virginia, as well as the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in La Jolla, California and Sharp Cabrillo Hospital in San Diego. He began his career as a public service outpatient psychologist for Virginia and the Virginia Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Mental Retardation in May, 1984. In addition to his public safety work, he is a public safety trainer, behavioral science consultant and testimonial expert in his field providing services when called upon for the Federal Government (FEMA, NDMS, DMORT, USPHS/DHHS), Attorney General, Governor's OES, District Attorney, State and Local Law Enforcement. In addition, he has held several university and college faculty appointments since that time to include: Adjunct Professor at San Diego State University, Visiting Professor at the University of San Diego, Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California-San Diego School of Medicine, Adjunct Professor of Law at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Field Extern Supervisor at the John Jay School of Criminal Justice in New York and the University of Southern California, DCI Program, School of Policy, Planning and Development. He has written 4 books, over 35 book chapters, 3 monographs and over 65 peer reviewed scientific papers during his career. He sits on several editorial boards in psychology and is the former Editor-in-Chief the Canadian Journal of Clinical Medicine, Edmonton, CAN from 1995-2001. His most popular and best selling book is Stalking Crimes and Victim Protection published by CRC Press. To date, he continues to provide a public service and currently teaches, writes and conducts research. He lives with his wife and 2 children in San Diego, California.
