Jordon Mutch

Club Career

Jordon Mutch is a midfielder who joined Birmingham City in the summer of 2007 from Derby County after Blues paid County a fee for him. He was signed after Academy manager Terry Westley left Pride Park for St Andrews.

So far this campaign, Jordon has made 17 appearances for the Birmingham reserve side and helped the team claim the Birmingham Senior Cup in April 2008.

He was given a squad number prior to Blues' Carling Cup game against Blackburn Rovers in September 2007.

Aged 15-years-old he was included in the squad to face Rovers, but disapointingly had to be withdrawn at the last minute due to an FA ruling about insurance meant the schoolboy missed out.

Mutch has sinced been selected in the first team squad for the FA Cup third round tie at Huddersfield Town, although he was an unused substitute. Had he made an appearance, Mutch would become Birmingham City's youngest ever player, beating Trevor Francis' record of 16 years, 139 days set in 1970.

International Career

In March 2008, Mutch was selected in the England U17 Squad for the UEFA U17 Elite Round Tournament. As part of an 18 man squad, Mutch started twice in draws against France and Israel but was an unused substitute against Russia.

In February 2008, Mutch played in all three of the young lions' matches of the Algarve Tournament.

And whilst with Derby, Mutch was selected for the England U17 squad to play in the Nordic Championships held in Denmark in the summer of 2007. He started once against Finland in a 2-1 victory and came on a sub in the opening games against Iceland.
