Overview Jonjo Rowlands is a stand-up comedian, radio presenter and poet. He currently presents "Jonjo and Joe's Radio Show" on Portsmouth's Express FM. Jonjo was sprung into notoriety when he announced his arrival on the comedy circuit in 2008. In 2009 he won 'Best Comedy Act' at The News Guide Awards. Since then, Jonjo has performed extensively on the UK comedy circuit. Radio Rowlands began his radio show on Express FM in 2009, with fellow comedian Joe Wells. Since then, he has been producing his own short pieces, most notably 'The Telephone Bloke' and 'Not Another Star Wars Parody'. The Telephone Bloke 'The Telephone Bloke' is a prank call radio show written and performed by Rowlands for an adult audience. It is designed as a way for the listener to get their own back on the companies that take them for a ride on a daily basis. In the show, Rowlands telephones a notable company and establishes a comedic set-piece. The calls are preceded by an introductory monologue to set up the comedy. Reviews have been generally positive. Not Another Star Wars Parody 'Not Another Star Wars Parody' is Rowlands' latest creation. It is a musical sitcom bringing the Star Wars characters to Earth with an original storyline. Criticism of the show centres on the fact that it is too slow paced and is too sentimental. Rowlands is quoted as saying this is his personal favourite piece. Stand-Up Rowlands has been performing stand-up on the UK comedy circuit since 2008. He was quickly noticed as one of the fastest improving newer acts at the time. In 2009, he performed at the Bestival music festival as well as at Portsmouth's King's Theatre at the annual Guide Awards. He later picked up the trophy for 'Best Comedy'. He has begun to add musical elements to his comedy act, with comedy songs performed on the ukulele. Accolades Jonjo Rowlands was the runner up at Ribtickla Comedy Club's annual comedy competition 2009 and was the winner of the Guide Awards' prestigious 'Best Comedy' category in the same year. <references/>
