John Randolph Wood Jr. is an American political activist and media personality. He was the Republican nominee for California's 43rd congressional district in the 2014 elections and currently serves as national ambassador for Braver Angels. Career Wood volunteered for . Wood won 29 percent of the vote in the November general election, more than any previous challenger in the district in previous decades. Wood served as the vice-chairman of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County, a subsidiary of the California Republican Party, from 2014 to 2016. Since 2017, Wood has served as national ambassador for Braver Angels, speaking at venues ranging from the Global Philanthropy Forum, Weave: The Social Fabric Project at the Aspen Institute, and the Conservative Political Action Conference. Wood is a contributor to Areo Magazine and has appeared in various media, including in the pages of the Wall Street Journal and as a guest on the Glenn Loury show, Matt Kibbe’s podcast, and Bret Weinstein’s Darkhorse podcast.
