John Morris (Business professional)

John Morris (born August 29, 1960) is an American business professional who has held executive leadership positions at technology startups and Fortune 500 companies. Currently, he serves as the CEO of UncommonX, a SaaS-based cybersecurity managed services provider for midsize organizations.
Career
Morris worked at IBM for more than twenty years in numerous executive general management roles, including several with multi-billion-dollar revenue responsibilities. He was also a member of IBM's Global Marketing Council
In July 2008, Juniper Networks named Morris its executive vice president of worldwide field operations, where he led its global sales, services, and channel organizations. He also served as the company's chairman of the Field Council. During his time with Juniper, he helped add more than a billion dollars to its top line.
Under Morris's guidance, Cleversafe was bought by IBM in late 2015 for $1.3 billion. As a result, its venture capital investors got back 10 times their original investments.
After the Cleversafe acquisition, Morris joined IBM as general manager of cloud object storage. He helped the company introduce and sell its new Cloud Object Storage Cold Vault and its “pay as you use” Flex version in late 2017.
In September 2020, Morris joined 5thColumn, a SaaS-based cybersecurity managed services provider for midsize organizations, to lead the company's next phase of growth as its interim CEO. He was recruited by former Cleversafe chairman Christopher Galvin, who now served as chairman for 5thColumn. In early 2021, Morris became full-time CEO.
Awards
In September 2015, Morris was named CEO of the Year by the Illinois Technology Association at its 16th annual CityLights Awards. Morris received the award based on his leadership of distributed data storage company Cleversafe.
