John F. Wolfe is the owner and publisher of the Columbus Dispatch newspaper and chairman of the Dispatch Broadcast Group in Columbus, OH which includes WBNS-TV, WTHR-TV, ONN, WBNS-FM, and WBNS-AM. Wolfe was named the company's vice president in 1969 and became president in 1973. In 1975, he was named publisher of The Columbus Dispatch, and, in 1994, he also was named chairman of parent Dispatch Printing Company after the death of Robert F. Wolfe and John Walton Wolfe. Born in Columbus, Wolfe graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1965 with a bachelor of science degree in commerce. After graduation, he returned to work for the family business. Wolfe is a philanthropic leader in central Ohio. He oversees the company's Wolfe Enterprises that supports many local organizations. Wolfe has served on many local boards including COSI, Franklin University, Columbus Clippers baseball, Columbus Academy, and Columbus School for Girls. In 2008, Wolfe was honored by the Franklin Park Conservatory together with friend and fellow local philanthropist Leslie Wexner for their dedication to the community and conservatory.
