John Caledon Grey Egerton

Sir (Philip) John Caledon Grey-Egerton, 15th Bt, of Egerton and Oulton, in the County of Chester. He lived at Meadow House, West Stafford, Dorset. A professional soldier he fought with the British 8th Army, the 'Desert Rats' in World War Two.
Born on 19 October 1920, the son of the 14th baronet and by his wife, Dorothy Aveys. Educated at Eton College, he attended RMA Sandhurst. He gained a commission in the Welsh Guards. In 1941, 1942 and 1943 he fought in North Africa, being promoted to Captain. He also engaged with the Germans in the Italy campaign.
He married after the war, Margaret Voase, the widow of Squadron Leader Robert Alexander Ashton Ullman, RAF, elder daughter of Rowland Rank, of Aldwick Place, Aldwick, Sussex, on 4 June 1952.
After her death he married secondly, in 1986, Frances Mary, daughter of Colonel Robert Maximillian Rainey-Robinson, of Broadmayne, Dorset, the widow of Squadron Leader William Dudley Williams, DFC, RAF.
