Joey parker

Joey Parker is a television and radio journalist and broadcaster.

Born in New London, Connecticut, Joey started his radio career as a teenager in Mobile, Alabama. He was hired by his radio mentor, Leslie Fram, as a disc jockey at WABB-FM (97 FM WABB). During his teenage years Joey also worked for WKRG-FM (G-100) and started a music variety television program.

Interested in the entertainment of teenagers and young adults, Joey hosted teen dance nights and owned his own teen entertainment businesses in Mobile, as well as, teen centers in Biloxi, Gulfport and Hattiesburg, Mississippi. For his efforts and work for teen suicide awareness and against teen drug abuse Joey was named "Youth of the Year" by Alabama Governor George C. Wallace.

Over the years Joey would work at a variety of Biloxi and Gulfport, Mississippi statons including WQID-FM (93.7 WQID) and WZKX-FM (Power 108). It was during his employment at Power 108 when Joey first became a news director, reporter and anchor.

With prompting from TV legend and friend Dick Clark and an offer in 1995 from WTVY-TV in Dothan, Alabama, Joey became the overnight news producer for the CBS affiliate serving Dothan and Panama City, Florida. During his time at WTVY Joey served as producer, reporter, anchor, and bureau chief.

In 1997, Joey was hired by WSFA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Montgomery, Alabama, to help create, launch, produce and anchor "WSFA News 12 at Sunrise." After a brief departure to a Minneapolis, Minnesota, cable news operation in 1999, Joey returned to WSFA to anchor "Sunrise" and co-anchor "Today In Alabama."

The building and launching of a new NBC affiliate in Wyoming, brought Joey to the West. In 2003, he became the founding news director and evening anchor of KCWY-TV ("NBC for Wyoming"). During his Wyoming years, Joey and his news team were recognized with multiple awards from the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters and the Wyoming Associated Press.

Another launch brought Joey to Hastings, Nebraska, in the summer of 2007. Joey joined KHAS-TV, the NBC affiliate for Lincoln-Hastings-Kearney, Nebraska, to help create, launch and anchor "News 5 Today." He also serves as the station's assistant news director.
