Jody Dunn

Jody Dunn (née Miriam Joy Beveridge, born 1969) is a former British Liberal Democrat politician, who is a practising barrister specialising in family law.
She ran for the Hartlepool Parliament constituency in 2004 and 2005, but lost both to Ian Wright both times.
Career
She worked as a DJ for seven years prior to studying and taking her A levels within six weeks. Later, in the 1990s, she studied for the bar exam. She attended the University of St Andrews and subsequently studied law at City University and the Inns of Court School of Law.
Political campaigns
She was chosen by the local Liberal Democrats as their candidate in the Hartlepool by-election, 2004. Her campaign was fought partly against the Labour Government's plans to close Hartlepool Hospital; Although defeated by Labour's Iain Wright, who had a majority of 12,752, Dunn received 10,719 votes. As she was making her speech at the declaration, the Fathers 4 Justice candidate Paul Watson threw purple powder over her to protest at her work as a family law barrister; he was arrested under suspicion of assault but not charged.
She subsequently stood again for Hartlepool in the General Election in 2005 and lost to Iain Wright a second time.
Personal life
Born in 1969, Jody Dunn is half-Finnish. She is from Gainford, County Durham.
