Jinx Forums The site is well known for its forums, which are among the most widely visited computer-related forums on the Internet. Due to the forums' popularity, they receive a substantial number of newcomers to the "hacker" subculture; as a result, many consider the Jinx forums to be a forum for amateurs. Despite this reputation, the Jinx forums feature some very experienced and skilled programmers, system administrators, and computer hobbyists.
The forums cover a variety of subjects which include computer security, phreaking, networking, programming, modding (case, hardware, and software), hardware, gaming, administration and social subjects (Mental Reality). It also has a section on the forum to discuss topics such as gaming, music, and television.
As of 11 March 2008, the total number of members registered in the forums is 29,877 compared to 26,362 7 October 2006.
As of February 2nd, 2007, the Mental Reality (MR) forum was changed from open to all users to invite only. This was due to users "abusing" the MR forum. Only users who have contributed enough may get into Mental Reality.
