Jerry Doubles

Jerry Doubles (14th February, 1984) born Jerry Iliya is Berom by tribe from Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state. He is a Farmer who grows Strawberries and Rabbits from Nigeria. He has gained significant relevance in the social media space and the farmer's network In Jos the Capital of Plateau state since he moved to Jos. He developed a pigment he synthesized from Plant materials that can be used to preserve Fruits (Tomatoes, Apples, Oranges, etc) for up to 40 days. He has written two eBooks successfully published on Amazon.
Biography
Jerry Doubles was born in Bauchi state, North Eastern Nigeria, to Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Iliya Fwam from Sho Village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state. His Father is a local Engineer who works independently and repairs heavy duty trucks like DAF, MAN, IVECO, etc. His Mother on the other hand is a local Fashion Designer who specializes in sewing Women Outfits. He is the first Child in five boys (Jerry, Julius, Joseph, Jacob and Jethro). He grew up on the street of Railway Road in Bauchi, before moving to Jos, Plateau state for his University Education at University of Jos in 2005 where he studied Industrial Chemistry and graduated in 2008.
Personal life
Jerry grew up in a modest home and has passion for technology at a tender age. He also showed great passion for Business. As he grew up, he founded Made In Jos Brand on November 26th 2015. Made In Jos Brand was set up to showcase Plateau state to the world; its vast aptitude, rich heritage and unmatched potentials. This is Jerry's breakthrough Brand as he was able to sell products made in Jos in about eleven (11) countries around the world and in all the capitals in the country. This became the significant boost he needed to make him what he is today.
Jos Hike It
Jerry Doubles also founded Jos Hike It, a social group devoid of any religious or ethnic variation established to showcase the Rich Heritage from Plateau state on the 17th of September 2016. Jerry picked the "Best Social Media Campaign" award in Plateau state for Jos Hike It given by Plateau Social Media Awards in July of 2019.
In 2019, he was featured on a Canadian website, MEDA.ORG after his encounter with Katelynn Folkerts during her one-year SALT (Serving and Learning Together) term with Mennonite Central Committee in Jos, Nigeria. She narrated "It was a pleasure to tell the story of Jerry Doubles, Made In Jos and JOS HIKE IT... last night at the University of Waterloo. Thank you Jerry for reminding us that for as many stories we here of conflict, corruption and poverty in Nigeria, there are just as many of ordinary people using their own creativity, resources and passions to make positive change."
On the 22nd of September 2018, Jerry organized what became the biggest hike expedition in the History of the state hosting 1,124 people on a single expedition. One year later, exactly on the 21st of September 2019, he organized yet another hike expedition that hosted 3,811 people from all over the country, tripling the number a year prior.
Farming
Jerry Doubles is a renowned Farmer who has made both local and international news on rearing of rabbits and the cultivation of strawberries. On the 26th of February, he was featured on China Global Television Network (CGTN) and he stated how the demand for strawberries in Nigeria is quite over the supply, but it is affected by insecurity in the region. About eight (8) months later, on the 7th of October 2021, Jerry narrated a sad incident that showed how insecurity bedeviled his farm in Chaha, the village where he grows his strawberries. He narrated "Around my farm in Chaha, so, many times the Fulanis will invade the farmlands destroy crops and when it’s reported to the police, nothing is done." He has hosted so many talks on enumerating the prospects of Rabbit Farming in Nigeira, on Club House and Twitter Spaces.
Achievements
On the 9th of December, 2019, Twitter listed their Favorite tweets of 2019 and Jerry's Tweet topped the list globally. Twitter sent a frame with the Tweet engraved on it all the way from San Francisco to Nigeria.
on the 21st of September 2019, Jerry Doubles organized the biggest hike expedition in Nigeria which hosted 3,811 people from all over the country, tripling the number a year prior. and "Build and Brand your Idea".
on the 31st of December 2017, he declared intentions to run for the Governorship elections in Plateau state, but that ambition quickly went mute till today.
