Jeremiah Frei-Pearson is a child advocate and civil rights attorney living in Astoria, Queens, New York. Frei-Pearson is very active in Western Queens. As a pro bono lawyer for Western Queens Power for the People, he helped get a $63 million dollar settlement from ConEdison for the people of Queens after the 2006 blackout. As a leader of Western Queens for Marriage Equality, he organized the largest rally in Athens Park history, where 2,500 people rallied for equality. . He is also involved in Astorians United Against Hate Crimes, the Long Island City Alliance, the Coalition for a Better Astoria, Democracy for New York City, and the New York Lawyers' Democratic Counsel. Frei-Pearson attended Skidmore University as an undergraduate. In college, he interned for the late Senator Ted Kennedy. Jeremiah later attended Stanford Law School in California. He flew to New York from California after the events of September 11th to assist with clean up efforts at Ground Zero. The Red Cross officially recognized him for his work. At Stanford Law School, Frei-Pearson ran a center providing legal aid to poor people. He also co-founded the Stanford chapter of the American Constitution Society and the Stanford Law School Democrats. He also served on the Stanford Law & Policy Review. Frei-Pearson graduated from law school in 2003. He then moved to Astoria, New York, and has lived there ever since. Prior to his work with Children's Rights, he worked as an associate at the big law firm Kaye Scholer, where, in addition to his regular litigation practice, he took on many pro bono cases. He has been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2008 New York State Thurgood Marshall Representation Award and a 2009 award from the New York City Council honoring his work with children. Frei-Pearson married actress Karla Mosley in 2009.
